Welcome to our exciting conference tour experience! Join us on an unforgettable journey that combines learning, networking, and exploration, with a focus on Black heritage. Our tour kicks off from the Yorkdale Mall Toronto, Ontario

On June 19, 2026, at 7:30 AM, we will depart for a full-day bus tour that will take you through three captivating cities: Buxton, Dresden, and Chatham. Each destination holds a significant place in black history and heritage, providing unique insights into the achievements, struggles, and resilience of the Black community. Prepare to be inspired and enlightened as we delve into the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Black individuals and communities.

Bus Tour

  

  • Departure:

7:30 AM: Depart from Yorkdale Mall Address: Ensure everyone is on board by 7:15 AM for a prompt departure.

  • Travel to Buxton, Dresden:

7:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Travel to Buxton, Dresden Estimated travel time: 3 hours Activities on the bus: Brief introduction to the day’s events, distribution of itineraries, and a short documentary or presentation about Buxton and its historical significance.

  • Arrival and Program Start:

11:00 AM  Arrival: Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society & Black Mecca Museum

  • Program: Guided Tour – Black Mecca Museum

11:10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. : Start of the Program 

Step into the rich and powerful story of Chatham-Kent’s Black community. Discover how this region became a vital destination along the Underground Railroad, and explore the lives, achievements, and resilience of those who built thriving communities here.
Enjoy engaging exhibits and, weather permitting, a walking tour of the historic neighbourhood featuring sites such as the John Brown Meeting House and BME Freedom Park. This experience offers a meaningful journey through history—one that continues to shape the present and inspire the future

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch  Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (assistance available upon request)

  • Museum Tour:

1:30 PM – 2:00 PM:  Travel to Buxton Continuation of the Museum

  • Guided Tour – Buxton National Historic Site & Museum:

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM:

    Engage with powerful stories that bring the past to life and deepen your understanding of the Underground Railroad and its enduring legacy.
  • Departure from Buxton, Dresden:

3:30 PM: Board the bus for departure Ensure everyone is on board by 3:15 PM for a timely departure.

  • Travel Back to Toronto:

3:30 PM – 6:30 PM: Travel back to Yorkdale Mall. Estimated travel time: 3 hours. Activities on the bus: Reflective discussion about the visit, feedback collection, and light entertainment.

  • Return:

6:30 PM: Arrive at Yorkdale Mall
